On June 13th, 2015 we welcomed our Pastor CJ Luttinen to First English Lutheran church. Pastor CJ is a native of Birmingham, Michigan, a northern suburb of Detroit. He is an alumni of Concordia University-Ann Arbor where he graduated with a B.A. in Biblical Languages and a minor in Psychology. At CUAA he played and helped coach the basketball team, played guitar in the student led praise band, and provided vital leadership in establishing the campus' athlete ministry program which continues to this day.
Pastor CJ is joined in ministry by his wife Katie, a fellow Michigander and softball player at Concordia Ann Arbor. In May of 2011 the two were married and quickly moved St Louis, Missouri for graduate studies at Concordia Seminary. While at the Seminary, Pastor CJ played and helped coach both the Preacher basketball and soccer teams. He served his vicarage year at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Boca Raton, Florida.
On April 29th, 2015 he received his first call to First English. Pastor CJ was ordained at his home church of Redeemer Birmingham in Michigan on June 7th, 2015. Pastor CJ and Katie are very happy residents of the New Orleans area and enjoy taking in all the many blessings that God has provided them in this city. Pastor CJ also has taught Sophomore religion classes at the neighboring Lutheran High School of Greater New Orleans.
